Dr. Heather Buker

Dr. Heather Buker is a distinguished leader in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) technologies. An engineer by trade, Heather has been a technical subject matter expert in cybersecurity her entire career, from developing cybersecurity software to consulting, service delivery, architecting, and product management. She specializes in translating business needs and facilitating solutions to complex cyber and GRC use cases with technology.

 

Before joining 6clicks in 2021, Heather spent most of her career leading technical presales, product, and engineering teams. She was often tasked with orchestrating technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders and bridging the gaps between people, processes, and technology. Leading the sales and customer success functions at 6clicks, Heather’s teams focus on helping customers achieve their risk and compliance goals quickly and efficiently with the AI-powered 6clicks solution.

 

Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, a Master of Science in Engineering Management, and a Doctorate in Information Technology with a specialization in information assurance and cybersecurity. Through her education and diverse technology background, Heather brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to 6clicks customer and go-to-market teams.

 

Beyond her work at 6clicks, Heather is passionate about promoting and encouraging students to pursue careers in STEM, actively mentoring and tutoring young adults in technology and engineering.

Cultivating and farming are personal passions of mine. Nestled in a small town in the far NW corner of Montana, my husband, Jake, and I run a modest 20-acre homestead raising and selling chickens, waterfowl, bees, and produce. At times, we have as many as 100 animals (and thousands of bees!) on the property closely guarded by our German Shepherds, Brawn and Basil.

My passion for technology and STEM started at a young age. In my preteen years, I competed in a number of coding and engineering competitions through an organization called Technology Student Association. I quickly learned I had a knack for computers and coding, namely. The rest is history.

Solving complex problems with simple, efficient solutions is my bread and butter. I’m passionate, in my work and personal life, about finding the simplicity in the complexity and improving processes using technology. There’s no better feeling than not only finding a solution to a challenging problem but finding one that improves the overall experience and quality of the outcome.

As a lifelong athlete playing basketball through college and powerlifting as an adult, competition and teamwork are ingrained in me. As a result, I’m driven by metrics and desirable outcomes and am always looking to better myself for my personal growth and the growth of the team around me. We improve together. We lose together. We win together.

The only place my creativity tends to come out is in the kitchen. I find lots of joy in cooking, baking, and feeding people. I draw most of my inspiration from my Southern USA roots and love making fusion cuisine.
